Hickory Knoll is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located near Earhart Expressway, Elmwood and Jefferson Highway. Hickory Knoll serves animals and their owners from across the Metro New Orleans area.

  • Dr. Barbara T. McCord, DVM

    Veterinarian
    From Meridian, Mississippi, Dr. Barbara T. McCord received a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Mississippi and earned her DVM degree from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1979.

    She is a member of the Southeastern Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She also holds a license to practice veterinary medicine in Mississippi. 

    Dr. McCord lives in River Ridge with her husband, Dr. Robert W. McCord (Internist).  They have two daughters, DD and Elizabeth.  She enjoys fishing, hiking, sailing and is an avid New Orleans Saints and Pelicans fan.

  • Dr. Matthew J. Jacocks, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Matt Jacocks was born and raised in southeast Louisiana. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Centenary College in 1984 and received his veterinary degree from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988.

    Dr. Jacocks has been very active in the community, serving on several boards and donating time and services to numerous veterinary and animal welfare groups. He was also a mentor in the Big Brother / Little Brother program.

    Dr. Jacocks is a current member of the Southeastern Louisiana Veterinary Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is a past president of the SLVA and Jefferson SPCA. In 2000 Dr. Jacocks received the Golden Paw Award for his outstanding volunteer work at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter and on the S.N.I.P. Van.

    He currently lives in the New Orleans area with his daughter Piper as well as two dogs "Anna" and "Lucy"& more than a few cats.

  • Dr. Eric T. Kitziger, DVM

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Eric Kitziger is a native of New Orleans who graduated from Jesuit High and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at LSU.  He received his DVM degree from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988.

    Dr. Kitziger is an active member of the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.  He has also served on the board of the Southeastern Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association.

    He lives in Metairie with his wife Dr. Shawn Kitziger, DVM, son William and daughters Holly and Emma.  They share their lives with "Max" the Pug, "Lucky" the cat, a hen named "Claire" and "Stella" the rabbit.  They have two ferrets "Isabella" and "Sly Jr." and "Dash" the Chinchilla.  They have a hamster, a turtle and numerous Finches and fish.  They have two Degus named "Sugar" & "Spice" and "Ray Jay" the famous Blue Jay.
